[You can follow me on Twitter @creatorvilla.] Steve Jobs and Muhammad Ali have reputations that precede them. Jobs co-founded and presided over Apple for decades before his passing, a company that is now worth $1 trillion dollars, over 5% of the GDP of the United States. Ali was a world champion heavyweight boxer when the sport was in its heydey. Nikola, for his part, pioneered breakthroughs in the production, transmission, and application of electric power. Tesla, the famous electric car brand named in his honor, is valuated at more than $100 billion dollars.

What do these titans share in common besides the extreme wealth and celebrity they acquired during their lifetime? A peculiar habit known as semen retention. For those unfamiliar with the term, retention refers to the conscious decision of a man not to climax. It is based on the belief that climax releases powerful energy that can otherwise be rechanneled in other areas of life. Steve Jobs’ ex-girlfriend Chrisann Brennan had this to say about his peculiar habit.

“Our birth control method up to that point was Steve’s coitus interruptus, also called the pull-out method, which for him was about his conserving his energy for work.” She added he didn’t want to climax to build “power and wealth by conserving [his] vital energies.”

In Muhammad Ali’s autobiography The Greatest: My Own Story, he narrates a quote from Olympic boxing coach Harry Wiley.

There’s a kid just come down here named Cassius Clay. If you bet on him every time he fights, you’ll be a rich man, ‘cause he won’t lose a single fight. I believe his thing is sexual control. And he’s got it. . . Any kid who can control [it] can with the title. I believe it.

Ali would reportedly go up to 2 months without climaxing in preparation for a fight. Retention prior to a fight, in fact, has been standard operating procedure among many boxers. David Haye, former British Heavyweight Champion, articulated the logic of the practice as follows.

I don’t [climax] for six weeks before the fight. . . It releases too much tension. It releases a lot of minerals and nutrients that your body needs, and it releases them cheaply. Releasing weakens the knees and your legs. Find a lion that hasn’t had some food for a while, and you’ve got a dangerous cat. So there won’t bet a drip from me. Even in my sleep — if there are girls all over me in my dream, I say to them, “I’ve got a fight next week, I can’t do anything. I can’t do it.” That’s control. I’ve been doing that since I was fifteen and its part and parcel of my preparation now. That’s why I am who I am today — it’s down to all those little sacrifices. Find me another boxer who makes that sacrifice, and you’ll find another champion

Nikola Tesla was an inventor and had his own reasons for practicing the habit. He had this to say in the article “Tesla Opposed to Marriage,” published in the Electrical Journal in 1896.

I do not believe that an inventor should marry, because he has so intense a nature and so much in it of wild passionate qualities that in giving himself to a women he might love, he would give everything, and so take everything from his chosen field. I do not think you can name many great inventions that have been made by married men.

The late Napoleon Hill was one of the most successful self-help authors of the 20th century. His famous book Think and Grow Rich is among the top 10 best-selling self-help books of all time. In it, he has a chapter entitled “The Mystery of Sex: Transmutation.” Transmutation is about redirecting the energy innate in powerful sexual urges into other creative pursuits. Napoleon Hill said it best himself.

Sex desire is the most powerful of human desires. When driven by this desire, men develop keenness of imagination, courage, will-power, persistence, and creative ability unknown to them at other times. So strong and impelling is the desire for sexual contact that men freely run the risk of life and reputation to indulge it. When harnessed, and redirected along other lines, this motivating force maintains all of its attributes of keenness of imagination, courage, etc., which may be used as powerful creative forces in literature, art, or in any other profession or calling, including, of course, the accumulation of riches.

Other celebrities have commented on this same alleged power. Music mogul and fashion designer Kanye West had this to say.

I have, like, nuclear power, like a superhero, like Cyclops when he puts his glasses on. . . People ask me a lot about my drive. I think it comes from, like, having a sexual addiction at a really young age. Look at the drive that people have to get sex—to dress like this and get a haircut and be in the club in the freezing cold at 3 a.m., the places they go to pick up a girl. If you can focus the energy into something valuable, put that into work ethic. . .

Stephen T. Chang, Master of Taoist Philosophy, illustrated his belief that climaxing has a draining effect on a man’s mind and body.

When the average male [climaxes], he loses about one tablespoon of semen. According to scientific research, the nutritional value of this amount of semen is equal to that of two pieces of New York steak, ten eggs, six oranges, and two lemons combined. That includes proteins, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, everything… [Climax] is often called ‘coming’. The precise word for it should be ‘going,’ because everything — the erection, vital energy, millions of live sperm, hormones, nutrients, even a little of the man’s personality goes away. It is a great sacrifice for the man, spirituality, mentally, and physically.

Going even further back in time, Proverbs 31 of the Bible recounts the advice that the mother of King Lemuel (possibly King Solomon himself) gave him. She had this to say in verse 3, an injunction potentially relevant to the topic.

Do not give your strength to women, your ways to those who destroy kings.

Proverbs 31:3

Retention has an ancient pedigree and there are many people today who swear by its benefits. I have read countless testimonials online of users who claim to have experienced a myriad of benefits with this discipline. Reported benefits include clarity of mind, increased female attraction, decreased anxiety, higher energy levels, greater resilience, a stronger immune system, more charisma, sharper creativity, and better masculinity.

Note: This post isn’t going to change your life, but it may entertain you. Baseball, “America’s favorite pastime” has fallen on hard times. While leagues like the NFL and NBA have taken measures to make the game more entertaining and appealing, especially to young people, change in baseball has evolved at a snail’s pace. Just this week, Chicago White Sox Manager Tony La Russa chided rookie slugger, Yermin Mercedes–get this–for hitting a homerun. Yes, a homerun on a 3-0 pitch while his team had a big lead in the 9th inning, but a homerun no less. Most people agree that baseball’s “unwritten rules” are just plain awful. Take a look at the fan response to this Tweet, for example.

Dear hitters: If you hit a 3-0 homer off me, I will not consider it a crime.

Dear people who are still mad about a hitter hitting: kindly get out of the game.

Can’t believe we’re still talking about 3-0 swings. If you don’t like it, managers or pitchers, just be better.
— Trevor Bauer (トレバー・バウアー) (@BauerOutage) May 18, 2021

Fans want MORE homeruns, and LESS salty pitchers plunking opposing batters for “showing them up.” Fans simply don’t care about the ego of pitchers, who make the game unwatchable with their unhittable fastballs and “sweet stuff.” The chart below tells you everything you need to know. As you can see, viewership of baseball’s flagship World Series event is on the decline, and it gets even worse the further you go back in time.

Average TV Viewership in Millions for the World Series (Source: Statista)

If you are waiting for the MLB to change, you will probably be waiting until the next pandemic, hence why I hereby propose an alternative XLB league designed with the fans in mind. Kind of like Vince McMahon’s XFL experiment minus the CTE. Here are the rules of the road!

XLB Rules:

6 inning games because 9 innings are three too many. No game should last longer than a motion picture.

2 strikes you’re out, and 3 balls and you walk. People will think of new idioms for life.

A flat mound. Let’s not make it even harder to hit a 90 MPH fastball.

Mic’ing up of players. Trash talk encouraged in-between pitches. And showboating.

8 players on the field, and no more than 2 outfielders. Groundballs are for T-ball.

Corked backs not only allowed, but encouraged.

Parks are 300 feet so you can let it fly. (See previous two rules.)

No extra innings. A homer off instead, where 3 chosen power hitters get 3 pitches a piece from a pitcher on their team.

Note: Some of these suggestions were crowdsourced from my brothers and friends, but that’s OK, because it doesn’t take a genius to put this together.

Tag your bored billionaire friend! And let me know in the comments what XLB Rules we missed and/or got wrong.

OHH, and there’s this video for added inspiration. . . (NSFW!! Turn the volume off if foul language offends you.)

Goggins knows a lot about sobriety as someone who went through hell week training three times and routinely competes in ultramarathons and other excruciating athletic events. For Goggins, sobriety is about staying in control of his mind and living authentically. To be sure, this is not a knock on anyone or any lifestyle, just one man’s perspective that I found thought-provoking.

Interviewer: And I know one thing that, —we spoke about it before [we were on] camera. To most of the world, you’re super clean. You’ve never done drugs. You’ve never had alcohol. You don’t drink alcohol.

Goggins: I’ve tasted alcohol, but no, I’m not a drinker.

Interviewer: Do you think that has to do with your father who used to drink a lot?

Goggins: It’s probably due to him, but it’s also due to—at a young age, I realized that I had a very weak mind, a very weak mind. And I want nothing to interfere with my own thought process. A lot of people before they go on stage, they get a little bit tipsy, get a little buzz. Maybe smoke a little something, do a little something.

I want to make sure that every single thing I feel is real. I want no masking. I want nothing to mask my ability to feel fear and to overcome fear, whatever it may be.

I’m not saying people who drink or do these different things are trying to hide. Some people just do it. For me, I think it’s almost a masking agent, so then your mind doesn’t have to work as hard. That means I’m losing.

It’s been a while since I’ve transcribed any new material, but I recently came across a clip that was simply too good to pass up. Naval Ravikant’s take on meditation sums up a lot of what I have come to understand through years of experimentation. Meditation, Ravikant asserts, is the art of doing nothing. It does not require a fancy technique to accomplish, as many might lead you to believe. What does it require, according to Ravikant? “Nothing. You just sit.” Meditation, he goes on to explain, is self-therapy. “It’s just that instead of paying a therapist to sit there and listen to you, you’re listening to yourself.”

Pascal famously said, “All of humanity’s problems stem from man’s inability to sit quietly in a room alone.” It follows that Ravikant’s contention–that learning to be alone is a kind of superpower–is no exaggeration. “You leave me alone for a day, it’ll be like the happiest day I’ve had in a while. And that is a superpower that I think everybody can obtain.”

What is the end goal for Ravikant? “The place where I end up the most—that is, really the one that I want to be at—is peace. It’s just peace.”

Check out the fascinating exchange and its transcription below. Do you agree with Ravikant?

Transcript:

Ravikant: Meditation, yeah.

Rogan: Yes, I mean, it’s huge.

Ravikant: It’s been a life saver for me.

Rogan: I do it. And I do it whenever I get, like, spare time. I was at the doctor’s office this morning, and I knew it was going to be 20 minutes, and so I just sat there with my eyes closed for 20 minutes, and I meditated.

Ravikant: You know, when I was growing up, there was this statement. I think it was Pascal, he said, “All of man’s problems arise because he cannot sit by himself in a room for 30 minutes alone.” And it’s very true. I always needed to be stimulated, and when the iPhone came along, boredom was dead. I would never be bored again. Even if I’m standing in line, I’m on my iPhone, and I thought it was great. And when I was a kid, I used to try and overclock my brain. “How many thoughts can I think at once?” The answer is only one. But I would try to think multiple thoughts at once. And I was proud of that, and I was proud that my brain was always running. This engine was always moving.

And it’s a disease. It’s actually the road to misery. And now that I’m older, I realize that you actually want to, again, rest your mind. You want to learn how to settle in to your mind. Now, I look forward to solitary confinement. You leave me alone for a day, it’ll be like the happiest day I’ve had in a while. And that is a superpower that I think everybody can obtain.

Rogan: The superpower of learning to be alone and enjoying it.

Ravikant: Yeah.

Rogan: Well, I think it’s critical. And I do think that these times where we just think about things, just be alone, and think about things, are so rare these days. And I think during those rare times is when you really get to understand what you actually believe or don’t believe.

Ravikant: Yeah, it’s funny. When I first started meditating, it was really hard because everybody—I think a lot of people who listen to this broadcast have heard of meditation. It has a good wrap, so everybody tries it. They struggle, and they kind of give it up. It’s one of those things that everybody says they do, but nobody actually does. It’s like not eating sugar. Everyone talks about how I don’t eat sugar. Then the dessert tray rolls around, and everybody’s going for the cookies. In fact, it’s now even become a signaling thing.

It’s like, “Oh, how much did you meditate?” “I meditated this much.” You know there are people now wearing headbands with [?] that chirp when they are in deep meditation. I don’t know how they make it work. They’ll be like, “I got a lot of chirps today, how many chirps did you get? Oh, your meditation technique is wrong. Mine is right.”

Really, all it is is the art of doing nothing. And it’s important because I think when we grow up, right, all the stuff happening to you in your life. And some of it you’re processing, some of it you’re absorbing. And some of it, you should probably think a little more about and work through, but you don’t. You don’t have time. So it gets buried in you. And it’s all these preferences and judgments and unresolved situations and issues.

It’s like your e-mail inbox. It’s piling up. E-mail after e-mail that’s not answered, going back 10, 20, 40 years. And when you sit down to meditate, those e-mails start coming back to you. “Hey, what about this issue, what about that issue, have you solved this, did you think about that? You have regrets there? You have issues there?” And that gets scary—people don’t want to do that. “It’s not working, I can’t clear my mind. I better get up and not do this.”

But really, what’s happening is it’s self-therapy. It’s just that instead of paying a therapist to sit there and listen to you, you’re listening to yourself. And you just have to sit there as those e-mails go through one by one. You work through each of them, until you get to the magical inbox 0. And there comes a day when you sit down and you realize, the only things you’re thinking about are things that happened yesterday because you’ve processed everything else. Not necessarily even resolved it, but at least listened to yourself. And that’s where meditation starts. And I think it’s a very powerful thing that everybody should experience. And that’s when you arrive at the art of doing nothing.

Rogan: And I think it’s even a problem that most people are getting their meditation from an app.

Ravikant: I will not use an app.

Rogan: I mean Sam Harris is a very good meditation app, I should say that. But you should be able to just do that, and many people can’t.

Ravikant: It’s literally the art of doing nothing, and so all you need to do for meditation is sit down, close your eyes, comfortable position, whatever happens, happens. If you think, you think. If you don’t think, you don’t think. Don’t put effort into it. Don’t put effort against it. [That’s] all you need..

Rogan: Do you concentrate on your breath, or do you have a specific technique?

Ravikant: Nothing. Nothing. You just sit.

Rogan: I think about my breath. That’s all I do. I try to only concentrate on breathing.

Ravikant: I used to do that. But at some level, every meditation technique is leading you to the same thing, which is just witnessing. And concentration is a technique to still your mind enough so that you can then drop the object of concentration. So you can also just try going straight to the end game. The problem with what I’m talking about, which is not focusing on your breath, is you will have to listen to your mind for a long time. It’s not going to work unless you do at least an hour a day, and preferably at least 60 days before you kind of work through a lot of issues. So it will be hell for a while, but when you come out the other side, it’s great.

Rogan: You get rid of the chatter.

Ravikant: Or when the chatter comes, it’s in the background. It’s dimmer, it’s smaller, You’ve heard it before. You see the patterns. It’s more recent. It’s something you need to resolve anyway. And you will get moments of actual silence.

Rogan: What is your ultimate state when you meditate, like is there a state where you’ve achieved rarely, if ever, where you just—you’re in bliss. Or you’re in harmony. Or you’re in enlightenment.

Ravikant: It’s kind of indescribable because when you’re really meditating, you’re not there. When there’s no thoughts, there’s no experience, there’s nothing. There’s just nothing. So it’s hard to describe, but I would say that—every psychedelic state that people encounter using so-called plant medicines can be arrived at just through pure meditation. And I’ve definitely hit some of those states.

Rogan: You’ve hit some transcendent psychedelic states where you’re hallucinating, the whole deal.

Ravikant: I’ve had trippy visuals. I’ve had the lights and colors. I’ve had the so-called downloads. I’ve had the realizations. I’ve had the bliss. I’ve had the light. I’ve had the colors.

Rogan: But not every time.

Ravikant: No, it’s rare. And, in fact, I’d say that’s also an experience you can start craving, which will then take you out of meditation. Where you’re really—and I’m not enlightened or anything close to it, not even the ballpark—but my own experience. And this is just personal experience, the place where I end up the most—that is, really the one that I want to be at—is peace. It’s just peace.

Rogan: Peace, happy.

Most people take for granted that “Love is all you need.” But when it boils down to the fine detail that makes all the difference, it’s a lot less crystal. What is love? Is it the love we give or the love we receive that matters most? I don’t claim to be an expert on love, although I did publish an article on creating love with the power of the mind. To answer these questions, I thought it would make sense to consult somebody who’s lived almost 90 years and made a career out of rehabilitating drug addicts.

I’ve transcribed a short clip in which Rabbi Abraham Twerski adds his drop to the bucket of perspectives on love. I thought his fish analogy was really thought-provoking, and I find myself agreeing with his main point–true love is about giving not receiving. How do you define true love?

Transcript:

“Young man, why are you eating that fish?” The young man says “Because I love fish.” The man says “Oh, you love the fish. That’s why you took it out of the water and killed it and boiled.” He says “Don’t tell me you love the fish, you love yourself. And because the fish tastes good to you–therefore you took it out of the water and killed it and boiled it.”

So much of what is love is fish love. A young couple falls in love. A young man and a young woman fall in love, what does that mean? That means that he saw in this woman someone who he felt could provide him with all of his physical and emotional needs. And she saw in this man somebody she feels she can write–that was love. But each one is looking out for their own needs. It’s not love for the other. The other becomes a vehicle for my gratification.

Too much of what is called love is fish love. An external love is not what I’m going to get but what I’m going to give. We had an ethicist–Rabbi Dessler–who said “People make a serious mistake in thinking that you give to those whom you love. And the real answer is you love those to whom you give.” And his point is if I give something to you, I’ve invested myself in you. And since self-love is a given–everybody loves themselves. Now that part of me has become in you, there’s part of me in you that I love. So true love is a love of giving, not a love of receiving.

If you have ever listened to an inspirational video on YouTube, there’s a good chance either Eric Thomas or Les Brown was the speaker. Occasionally, you’ll get lucky and both will feature on the same clip. If I had to summarize the focus of their talks with one word, that word would be adversity. Eric Thomas and Les Brown are no stranger to adversity. Thomas was a high school drop-out who spent two years on the streets of Detroit. Brown was given up for adoption at an early age and declared “educable mentally retarded” in grade school. I’ve transcribed a raw clip entitled “Through Hell” in which the two mega motivators talk about overcoming adversity and achieving one’s dreams.

Brown: It’s not easy. It’s hard changing your life.

Thomas: I’m talking about a problem in my life. For you I don’t know what it is, but that problem, you cannot ignore it. Why? It will not go away. It will not go away on its own. It will not. You won’t just wake up one day and it won’t be there anymore. It’s going to be there, and it will haunt you for the rest of your life. So I’m telling you from personal experience, deal with it. Deal with it.

And the sooner you deal with it, and the sooner you overcome it, the sooner you get your rewards, baby. The sooner you get on the other side of it, the sooner you begin to feel fulfillment. The sooner you get on the other side is self-actualization–your dreams become a reality. The sooner you get on the other side of the problem is a wealth of success. The sooner you deal with the fact that you have test anxiety–deal with it. It’s not the end of the world. Deal with it because when you deal with it you can create a solution for it and you can get over it. Deal with it. That you and your children don’t have the best relationship–deal with it.

Deal with the fact that you’re a procrastinator. Deal with the fact that it’s hard for you to execute. Deal with the fact that every time something happens you’re worried about it. Deal with the fact that you have this anxiety that every time you’re about to reach another level of success. Every time you’re about to go to another level, you feel overwhelmed. Deal with the fact that you’re struggling with your success, that you feel like why me? Or why not my sister? Why me? Why not other people? Deal with the fact that you feel guilty that you’re successful. Deal with it.

Brown: Ladies and gentlemen, I started working on my dream. And most people don’t work on their dreams, why? For many years I didn’t. One is because of fear. The fear of failure. What if things don’t work out? And the fear of success. What if they do work and I can’t handle it? The other thing is that most people, ladies and gentlemen, they get comfortable. They stop growing, they stop working on themselves, they stop stretching, they stop pushing themselves. And they end up becoming very cynical about life, and they throw in the towel on themselves, on their families, and on their dreams.

And the other thing is that most people don’t feel worthy. What I’m doing now I could have been doing years ago. But because I did not have a college education. Because I didn’t believe in myself. Because I allowed other people’s opinion of me to control my destiny I didn’t act on my ideas. And not only is it important for you to know it’s possible for you to choose your future, but it’s necessary that you work on yourself, that you develop yourself.

It’s necessary that you get the energy drainers out of your life–people who don’t want anything. People who are not striving. People who are not challenging themselves. People who aren’t growing. People who’ve stopped dreaming. It’s necessary that you align yourself with people and attract people into your business who are hungry. People who are unstoppable and unreasonable, people who are refusing to leave life just as it is. And who want more. My mother used to say “birds of a feather flock together.” If you run around with losers, you will end up a loser. It’s necessary that you get the losers out of your life if you want to live your dream.

The next step is that it’s you. That it’s you. That no one can do it for you but you. And even though you’ve faced disappointment. Even though you will experience some setbacks, it goes with the territory. You must understand that. What if all of us took that attitude after we’ve faced a rejection or a no? We have a meeting and no one shows up. Or somebody says “You can count on me,” and they don’t come through. What if we have that kind of attitude. The car’s repossessed. Nobody believes in you. You’ve lost again and again and again. The lights are cut off, but you’re still looking at your dream, reviewing it every day and saying to yourself, “It’s not over until I win.”

You are going to incur a lot of disappointment. A lot of failure. A lot of pain. A lot of setbacks. A lot of defeats. But in the process of doing that, you will discover some things about yourself that you don’t know right now. What you will realize is that you have greatness within you. What you will realize is that you’re more powerful than you can ever begin to imagine. What you will realize is that you are greater than your circumstances. That you don’t have to go through life being a victim.

What I like for you to do right now–I want you to think about your dream because I’m in a room full of dreamers. Think about your dream right now. I want you to think about it and envision it. Now ladies and gentlemen, let me share something with you. I do not believe that any of us has dreams that were not given to us for the purpose of accomplishing those particular dreams. And I want to share something with you that has changed my life. That dream that you’re holding in your mind, that it’s possible. See sometimes we can’t say “I can do that.” But what we can say is that it’s possible that I can have my dream as we run toward it.

As we work on it, day-in and day-out. It’s necessary to know that everybody won’t see it. That everybody won’t join you. That everybody won’t have the vision. It’s necessary to know that. That a lot of people like to complain but they don’t want to do anything about their situation. But you’re an uncommon breed. You know–you have to know within yourself that I can do this even if no one else sees it for me, I’m going to see it for myself. That’s necessary.

It’s also necessary, ladies and gentlemen, that you be creative when you’re working on your ideas. That you understand the importance of changing up. I can live my dream. It’s necessary. I’ll work on myself. Surround myself with winners. Become creative. It’s me. I got to make it happen. It’s not over until I win.

Music is incredibly powerful. It impacts us in ways that ordinary prose cannot. So much of personal transformation boils down to internalizing simple truths. As simple truths are internalized, thoughts, beliefs, and emotions begin to change, and with them the direction of one’s life. Music is energy, and there is positive and negative energy in the world. An important way to cultivate positive energy is to cut out music that doesn’t speak life. It takes almost no effort to change the track. But it takes a lot of effort to reform negative beliefs and thought patterns that the wrong music can cultivate. Several months ago I overhauled all of my playlists and got rid of the garbage that wasn’t serving me. I replaced it with uplifting music that might bring me closer to the head space I want to operate out of.

In that spirit, today I want to share one of the tracks that has positively influenced my life. It’s called “It Starts With Me” by multi-grammy award-winning artist Toby Mac off his latest album The Elements. The track affirms the possibility of freedom, but only when we take ownership of our lives. It mentions generational cycles that need to be broken—challenges our parents and grandparents could not overcome. The song strikes an encouraging note and fosters a can-do mentality. It even samples a Martin Luther King Junior speech on overcoming adversity. You can find the lyrics (courtesy of Genius) down below.

Lyrics:

[Intro: Martin Luther King Jr.]
One day (One day, one day, one day, one day)
This nation will rise up (Rise up, rise up, rise up, rise up)
Rise up (Rise up, rise up)

[Verse 1: TobyMac]
There’s a million reasons to hesitate
With a history that’s filled with hate
Have we ever been united states? I wonder (Oh, oh, oh)
So who can blame us for the doubt?
Forgive me if I think out loud
But when justice just won’t come around, you wonder (Wonder, wonder) (Oh, oh, oh)

[Pre-Chorus: TobyMac & Aaron Cole]
I was born with two (Two) dirty hands
Somethin’ my daddy didn’t understand
Somethin’ his daddy didn’t understand
So it starts with me
And I was raised with distrust in my heart
Mama told me we’re worlds apart
Her mama told her don’t even bother
So it starts with me

[Chorus: TobyMac & Aaron Cole]
‘Cause we can be free, yeah, yeah I know that
Let’s try to fix the things that’s been broke down
We can be free, yeah, yeah I know that
And it starts with me (Freedom)
’Cause we can be free, yeah, yeah I know that
Let’s try to fix the things that’s been broke down
We can be free, yeah, yeah I know that
And it starts with me (Freedom)
