Gratuitous [gruhtoo-i-tuhs, –tyoo-]: Free, done without a cause.

1-) The refreshments at the event were gratuitous.

2-) Your insult was gratuitous—I did nothing to deserve it.

3-) Gratuitious acts of kindness can have a powerful effect.
