The United States is about as culturally diverse as you would expect.

Today I came across a cool map that lists the most common language spoken by US state (excluding English and Spanish). Many people think the only useful foreign language in the US is Spanish. But in reality there are expats communities across the US where international cultures flourish. The US, after all, is a nation of immigrants. Does anything on the map below surprise you? Everything on it surprised me with the exception of a few states. For example, I knew there was a large Arab community in Michigan, but I had no idea German was an important language in Ohio.
