We quickly get offended when people criticize us or gossip about us behind our backs—and understandably so. But what if we took a moment to remember all the wrong things we’ve said and done in our lives (or thought) that nobody knows about. The truth is we are a lot worse than people think. Remember this when you feel tempted to get offended, even if people are not being truthful or giving you a fair shake. What should offend us is the garbage we allow our minds to be polluted with—the same bad energy we recycle back into the world. It’s more important to have a pure heart than a pure reputation. And, at the end of the day, it’s the only thing we have control over.
